The Hot Dog is one of the most famous street food dishes. You can find it in any crowded corner, but now you can make it at home as well. Our hot dog recipes are easy, fast and fun to make, and we bet that more delicious than this does not get!
1.The Lettuce Hot Dog (10 portions)
Ingredients
- 10 sausages
- 2 large onions
- 4 tbsp of oil
- 10 hot dog buns with sesame
- 10 lettuce leaves
- 2 large tomatoes
- 4 tbsp of mustard or 2 tbsp ketchup
Preparation
- Split the sausages in several places.
- Peel the onion and cut it into rings.
- Fry with onions together with the sausages in a pan with hot oil.
- Heat up the buns a little in the oven.
- Clean the lettuce leaves and cut it into smaller pieces.
- Wash the tomatoes and cut into slices.
- Cut the buns lengthwise and divide them into halves.
- Add salad, onion, sausage and tomatoes; also add mustard or ketchup.
2. The Hot Pepper Jam Hot Dog (10 portions)
Ingredients
- 10 soft hot dog buns
- 10 sausages
- Topping
- Mustard
- Ketchup
- hot pepper jam
- salad
- cucumbers in vinegar
- Tomatoes
- Pepper
- onion flakes
Preparation
- Cut each bun in half (without cutting it thoroughly) and fry it in a panini maker or on a grill.
- Do the same with the sausages, fry them in a panini maker or on a grill.
- Spread hot pepper jam on each bun, add salad slices, sliced tomatoes, sausages, pickles, onion flakes and sauces.
3. The 'From Scratch' Hot Dog (10 portions)
Ingredients
- 500 gr flour
- 10 pieces of sausage
- 1 teaspoon of dried yeast
- 1 egg
- 3 tbsp of oil
- 350 ml of warm water
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- ketchup
- mustard
Preparation
- Put the yeast and sugar in warm water and mix. We will leave it aside and sift the flour.
- Put the salt over the sifted flour and mix.
- Put the sausages on the fire in a grill pan and leave for 2 minutes on each side.
- Put the yeast mixture over the flour and mix with a spatula. Knead by hand after the dough has set.
- Add the oil and knead a little more. Then cover the dough with a clean towel and leave in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- After the 30 minutes have passed, sprinkle the flour on the worktop and turn the dough over. Divide into 2 parts, each part will be divided into another 5 parts.
- Spread each piece of dough with a rolling pin.
- Add ketchup and mustard, then add a sausage.
- Cut the dough on the edges into strips and pass the dough strips over the sausage.
- You will need a tray that needs to be lined with baking paper. Then put each hot dog in the tray and grease it with egg.
- Put the tray in the preheated oven at 356 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes.
- Serve with mustard and ketchup
4. The Cheesy Hot Dog (10 portions)
Ingredients
- 10 hot dog buns
- 20 sausages
- ketchup
- mayonnaise
- mustard
- 2 large tomatoes
- 4 canned cucumbers
- 100 g of cheese
- dill
Preparation
- Split the buns lengthwise and spread ketchup inside.
- Arrange two sausages in each bun.
- Cut the tomatoes and cucumbers into rounds. Arrange a row of tomatoes and cucumbers on the sides.
- Cover the sausage with mayonnaise and mustard to taste.
- Sprinkle the hot dogs with grated cheese.
- Arrange the hot dogs on a baking tray and place them in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. The buns will become crispy and the cheese will melt.
5. The Chef's Hot Dog (10 portions)
Ingredients
- 10 hot dog buns
- 10 grilled sausages
- Tabasco sauce
- 100 ml white wine vinegar
- 2 tbsp of honey
- Salt
- Pepper
- 2 tbsp of olive oil
- 100 ml balsamic vinegar
- 300 ml dark beer
- 900 g red onions
- 2 tbsp of soy sauce
- 9 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 400 ml vegetable soup
- 10 tablespoons of ketchup
- 10 teaspoons of Dijon mustard
Preparation
- Cut 2 onions into small slices. Put the onion to harden for 3 minutes with the olive oil. Add 6 tablespoons of brown sugar and let it caramelize. Quench with balsamic vinegar and vegetable broth, salt and cook for 10–12 minutes, then cool for approx. 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- In parallel, mix the beer, the remaining brown sugar, honey, soy sauce, white wine vinegar, salt and pepper, bring to a boil and simmer for 8-10 minutes. Season with Tabasco sauce and leave to cool for approx. 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Meanwhile, grill the sausages for 12-15 minutes; 3 minutes before the end of the grilling period, grease with beer marinade and grill until the end.
- The hotdog buns are placed for 1 minute on each side, on the grill, cut lengthwise, but not thoroughly. One half is greased with ketchup, the other with mustard.
- Place the grilled sausage in the bun and add the sweet and sour onion and the rest of the marinade on top.
- Add sliced peppers to taste
